BYD North America’s headquarters is located in Downtown Los Angeles, with a 550,000-square-foot bus manufacturing facility in Lancaster, California. BYD started with six U.S. employees in 2013 and has since expanded to over 1,000, including its unionized workforce of 750 in Lancaster, California.

BYD Singapore

In Singapore, BYD is the frontrunner in promoting the adoption of electrified vehicles for use in Taxi, Grab car fleets, commercial bus operations, and public transportation services. Since 2014, a total of 335 e6 passenger cars, 32 public and private commercial buses, 160 forklift-related products, 450 T3 commercial vans, and 40 over T9 trucks have been ordered and delivered.

In addition, as of June 2018, Singapore has built 122 charging station to provide convenient and fast charging services to all electric vehicles. More and more BYD 40kw chargers will soon be put into service soon.

We have also introduced another revolutionary product of iron batteries, electric forklifts. As BYD electric forklift is free from battery maintenance, good performance and ease of use make it a favorite among the Singapore market.

For public transport, BYD has entered into an MOU with Land Transport Authority to use its K9 city bus for a 7 months public trial in Singapore with transport operator “Go Ahead’. We had received overwhelmingly positive feedback from commuters and passengers that K9 is quiet, comfortable, has excellent cooling, smooth acceleration, and cost-saving of up to 70% from increasing fuel costs.

Solar Transport and Automotive Resources Corp. (STAR Corp.), a wholly Filipino owned and Philippine-based company founded in December 2012, is the authorized Philippine distributor of BYD Auto China Ltd. Co., maker of China’s top-selling local automotive brand.

Aside from traditional fuel vehicles, BYD manufactures new energy vehicles, electronic intelligence technology and power train technology including Remote Control Driving technology, Dual Mode II system and the Bi-directional Inverter Charging and Discharging technology.

BYD currently has a strong presence in Asia as well as the North, Central and South American markets through its electric buses, taxis and line-up of automobiles.

BYD’s automotive business also made the news when world-renowned entrepreneur Warren Buffet invested in the company in 2011 who acquired 225 million shares equivalent to a 9.9 percent stake.
