（2018年4月3日）隨著以「羅斯福」號航母為核心的第九航母打擊群抵達南海，美國海軍三個航母打擊群再次同時出現在西太平洋地區，引發了外界的關注。
美國海軍協會新聞網站4月2日公布的信息顯示，「羅斯福」號航母已經抵達新加坡。據新加坡《海峽時報》報道，4月2日，該航母抵達新加坡，進行定期港口訪問。與航母一同抵達的還有「邦克山」號巡洋艦和「桑普森」號驅逐艦以及第17艦載航空兵聯隊等。

美三艘航母再次齊聚西太地區
根據美國海軍協會新聞網站此前報道，「羅斯福」號航母打擊群於去年10月從美國本土集結出發，前往中東執行巡航任務。3月26日，該航母打擊群結束中東部署，由西向東返航回美國西海岸，進入第七艦隊轄區。在返航期間，將繼續開展海洋安全、與其他國家海軍進行聯合演練和港口訪問等活動。27日，該航母戰鬥群與印度海軍「塔卡什」號護衛艦進行了聯合演練。10名印度海軍官兵登船參觀了美國海軍「普雷布爾」號驅逐艦，美國海軍10名官兵也參觀了「塔卡什」號護衛艦。
「羅斯福」號航母打擊群進入南海之後，美國海軍在西太平洋地區擁有三艘航母。目前，中國春節期間到達南海的「卡爾·文森」號目前活動在關島海域一帶，而常駐日本的「里根」號航母則在港口修整，預計下個月將出海部署。
「卡爾·文森」號航母率領的打擊群於3月中旬在南海與日本「伊勢」號直升機航母進行了聯合反潛演習。該演習一直持續到3月下旬，演習區域包括南海和菲律賓海。
在返回途中，「羅斯福」號航母戰鬥群還「順便」與印度海軍「塔卡什」號護衛艦進行了聯合演練。
除了航母，首次在艦上部署了F-35B的「黃蜂」號兩棲攻擊艦依然在東亞地區進行訓練。韓國《朝鮮日報》此前報道，美國擬派「黃蜂」號兩棲攻擊艦參與美韓聯合軍演，艦上的F-35B也將出現在軍演。在軍事專家看來，搭載了F-35B隱身艦載機的美國兩棲攻擊艦，其攻防能力大幅提升，整體戰鬥力與其他國家中型航母相當甚至超越。
「羅斯福」號航母途徑西太平洋地區返回母港引發了外界關於美國是否會進行「三航母」演習的猜測。去年11月，美國海軍「里根」號、「羅斯福」號和「尼米茲」號三艘航母與11艘驅逐艦進行了聲勢浩大的「三航母」演習，這是自2007年在關島近海進行演習以來，美國時隔10年再次同時派出三艘航母參與軍演。當時以「羅斯福」號航母為核心的第9航母打擊群從美國西海岸的聖迭戈出發，途徑太平洋前往印度洋替換執行反恐任務的「尼米茲」號打擊群。
由於理論上「三航母」足以應付一場中小規模的局部戰爭，因此，美國每一次在西太平洋地區聚集三艘航母都會引發外界的關注和熱議。

美海軍再次舉行「三航母」演習可能性較小
北京大學海洋戰略研究中心研究員胡波告訴澎湃新聞（www.thepaper.cn），由於現在「里根」號航母還在港口修整，按照往常的情況，其5月或6月才會出海，因此，美國難以在西太平洋地區舉行一次「三航母」演習。
胡波認為，「羅斯福」號航母打擊群可能會在南海搞一些小動作，這樣才符合美國海軍「不虛此行」的一貫做法。
3月23日，美國海軍「馬斯廷」號飛彈驅逐艦進入中國南海有關島礁鄰近海域。中國國防部當天發布消息稱，中國海軍570艦、514艦迅即行動，依法依規對美艦進行識別查證，並予以警告驅離。
中國國防部發言人任國強發表談話稱，中國對南海諸島及其附近海域擁有無可爭辯的主權，美方一再派軍艦擅自進入中國南海島礁鄰近海域，其行為嚴重損害中國的主權和安全，違背國際關係基本準則，危害地區和平穩定。美方這種做法破壞中美兩國兩軍關係氛圍，造成雙方海空兵力近距離接觸，極易引發誤判甚至海空意外事件，這是對中方的嚴重政治和軍事挑釁。中國軍隊對此堅決反對。
值得一提的是，中國海軍近期在南海進行實戰化訓練。據環球網3月27日援引路透社的報道，美國遙感衛星數據公司星球實驗室(Planet Labs)的衛星照片顯示，中國海軍在南海聚集了包括「遼寧」號航母在內的40艘軍艦和潛艇。從衛星照片上看，至少有40艘軍艦和潛艇分列在「遼寧」號航母前後，以二排大致平行的陣型行進，此外空中還有軍機編隊飛行。新加坡南洋理工大學安全問題專家高瑞連(Collin Koh)對路透社表示，無論從規模還是從範圍來講，這都是中國正在增長的海上軍事力量的一次「非同尋常的大規模展示」。
在3月29日舉行的國防部例行記者會上，國防部發言人任國強就記者提問「遼寧艦是否參加了海軍南海演練」回應說，中國海軍在南海舉行實戰化演練，是海軍年度例行性計劃安排，目的是為檢驗部隊的訓練水平，和全面提升打贏能力，不針對特定國家和目標。至於遼寧艦的動向，海軍會實時發表消息。
