Reminder of Pre-departure Requirements for Passengers to China

2022 年 2 月 24 日 硬核豆浆

The recent COVID-19 situation in Singapore continues to fluctuate, with the Omicron variant spreading locally and rapid increase of imported cases into China. As a result, flights from Singapore to China have either been cancelled or suspended. The source tracing of imported cases shows that the majority of cases are tested positive within 3-7 days upon arrival in China, with a higher possibility of pre-departure or en-route infection. The infection of COVID-19 will not only pose an impact on personal health and journey, but jeopardize the health and safety of passengers on board and the normal operation of the flight.

The Embassy would like to remind that due to the complex situation of COVID-19, a high risk of infection remains during cross-border travel. Passengers who intend to visit China are kindly advised to take the current situation into consideration and to avoid non-essential and non-emergency travel to China until the pandemic situation turns stable.

If passengers do need to travel to China, they shall first check with the airline that the flight is operated under normal condition. Meanwhile, passengers shall raise awareness of self-protection from COVID-19 and carefully read and strictly comply with pre-departure requirements (please refer to http://www.chinaembassy.org.sg/chn/lsfw/26511/202110/t20211030_10403937.htm).

At present, proper pre-departure personal health monitoring and protection during pre-departure tests and throughout the journey are key to safe travel. Passengers intending to travel to China shall voluntarily take a 7-day pre-departure self-isolation, with no outings other than pre-departure testing during this period. If condition allows, passengers shall be isolated in a single room; if passengers are sharing a room or dormitory with others, they shall try to move out and be isolated alone; if passengers are unable to be isolated alone, they shall take good care of personal protection during the self-isolation period. Passengers applying for a health code shall fill in the Statement of Commitment on Personal Health Monitoring faithfully and shall take the initiative to postpone their trip if their roommates are infected or tested positive or if they are close contacts. Recently, the Embassy has randomly inspected the pre-departure self-isolation status of passengers and temporarily blocked the accounts of those who have made false declarations.

Passengers shall wear masks when going out for pre-departure tests, take safer transport such as taxis, choose larger clinics that have dedicated testing measures for people with suspected symptoms, keeping a safe distance from others during testing and do not do anything unrelated to testing, especially dining out or shopping.Passengers shall wear a mask throughout the journey, wear personal protective gloves or equipment if possible, avoid meals en route and do not remove the mask when using the toilets. After boarding, passengers shall reduce walking around in the cabin to avoid cross-infection on board. In the next step, the Embassy will further enhance its efforts in pre-departure requirements to better protect the health of passengers and aviation safety, and hopes that passengers to China could understand and cooperate to maintain the normal people-to-people exchange between China and Singapore. For Enquiry: +65-81296456 (8:30AM-12:00PM, 2:30PM-5:00PM, Mondays-Fridays, except Holidays)
