上學期末,廣東順德德勝學校國際部、初中部、高中部的學生領袖們受到世界名校新加坡華僑中學的邀請,赴新加坡參加了華僑中學組織策劃的年度“Student Leaders Convention”(學生領袖大會)活動。
Guangdong Desheng Education Group, emphasizes the great importance of the cultivation and education of scholars, leaders and global citizens who strive for excellence and serve with passion.
At the end of the last term, student leaders from Desheng School were invited by Hwa Chong Institution to attend the annual “Student Leaders Convention” (SLC), which was organized and planned by the Students of Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore.

學生領袖大會(SLC)的目的是通過向代表們介紹社會中的相關問題,鍛煉他們的批判性思維和創造力,它是一個鼓勵代表們理解社會各階層的平台。它鼓勵年輕人創新,引領生産變革,推動社會跨越當前的邊界。SLC標志是由字母SLC演變而來的,它象征著學生領袖們跨過終點線並開始行動。
The SLC aims to inculcate critical thinking and creativity in Delegates by exposing them to pertinent problems in our society. It serves as a platform to encourage Delegates to understand and empathize with various segments of society. It inspires youths with innovation and pioneering productive changes, and encourages society to cross current frontiers. The SLC logo, a play on the letters SLC, signifies student leaders crossing the finish line and acting as trailblazers to improve our world.
領袖大會每年都圍繞不同的主題進行深入探討,今年的主題是“Transcending Boundaries, Pioneering Change.”(超越界限,引領變革)。這個主題與教育息息相關,關注到教育的方方面面,比如教育是如何對社會平等、社會階層、社會的流動性構成影響,科技與教育之間又存在如何關系等等。參會的學生領袖們則需要分組探討不同的課題,通過小組展示、視頻、海報等多種途徑去表達自己的見解,提出解決方案。
Every year, SLC focuses on different themes for in-depth discussions. The theme of this year was “Transcending Boundaries, Pioneering Change”, closely related to all aspects of education, such as how education affects social equality, social strata, social mobility; and how technology and education relate to each other. Student leaders needed to discuss different topics in groups, express their views through group presentations, videos, posters and so on, and propose solutions.

DAY 1
學生領袖大會的第一天,在登記注冊後,同學們都來到了各自的青年小組(YF)。每個小組都有不同的研究問題,每三個小組構成一個青年委員會(YA),每個YA有一個共同主題。代表每個YF的是世界曆史中傑出的教育家,文學家,藝術家或者科學家,例如孔子,亞裏士多德,諾貝爾,霍金,達芬奇……在簡短有趣的破冰行動後,來自不同學校的參會者們都對彼此有了較爲初步的認識。

On the first day of the SLC, students were assigned to their Youth Faculties (YF) after registration. Each group has different research topics, and every three groups form a Youth Assembly (YA), which shares a common theme. Each YF is represented by outstanding educators, writers, artists or scientists in world history, such as Confucius, Aristotle, Nobel, Hawking, Da Vinci… After some interesting ice-breaking games, participants from different schools got to know each other better.
活動歡迎儀式上,新加坡總理公署部長,財政部和教育部第二部長英蘭妮·拉傑女士作致辭,並和與會學生代表們面對面探討教育問題。
During the Opening Ceremony, it was an honour to have Ms Indranee Rajah, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Second Minister for Finance and Education, to give a speech and make a face-to-face discussion on education with student delegates.
晚餐時間,外國學生和這次大會的組織者們一起共進晚餐。在輕松的氛圍下,領袖們對彼此有了更深一步的了解。在這期間,華中以及南洋女中的學生爲我們帶來了精彩的集體表演。現場的即興表演高潮叠起,還引發激情澎湃的集體大合唱。在這歡樂的氣氛中,學生領袖大會的第一天圓滿結束。

In the evening, student delegates and the organizers of the convention had dinner together. In a relaxed atmosphere, leaders got to know each other better, connected each other on social media and became good friends. During this period, students from Hwa Chong Institution and Nanyang Girl’s High School gave us a wonderful group performance. In the live improvisation performance, music broadcast often triggered a collective chorus. In this joyous atmosphere, the first day of the SLC ended.

我交了許多新朋友,並且現在還和他們保持著聯絡。雖然在最開始的時候,我們彼此之間都很陌生,但熟悉了之後發現每個人都是如此的與衆不同。
I made several friends and I am still having contacts with them on Instagram and WhatsApp. At the very beginning, we didn’t know each other at all but later I found that everyone is so unique in my group and we collaborated well.
DAY 2
第二天在各個小組間的討論中拉開了序幕。這天的主要任務是准備The Lens(“透過鏡頭”)的拍攝和呈現,各個小組在五分鍾的演講時間和五分鍾的視頻播放時間裏展示自己小組的研究成果。其中德勝學校巫佳奇(達芬奇班)及其小組的成員模擬新聞片段,展示了在南非由于教育資源不平衡引起的社會沖突,從而引發各方關于社會凝聚力及教育的廣泛討論。

The next day began with the discussion among the groups. The main task of the day was to prepare ‘The Lens’, which included both video filming and presentation. Since the morning, members from each group had been preparing for their first presentation. After lunch, it was time to present ‘The Lens’. Each group presented their research results in the five-minute presentation and the five-minute video. Lester Wu (DaVinci) and his team imitated news clips to show social conflicts in South Africa caused by the imbalance of educational resources, which triggered extensive discussions on social cohesiveness and education.

達芬奇班盧斯同學:
Rose Lu (DaVinci) :
“透過鏡頭”是一次時長10分鍾的小組展示,其中包括視頻展示。我不得不說,我在這次活動中學習了很多關于社會流動性的問題,這也是我們小組的課題。比較有意思的是,我在視頻中扮演了一位自私的中年女性,這也是我們小組視頻的主角之一。
‘The Lens’ was similar to a presentation. However, this group presentation was required to last for 10 minutes, a video inclusive. I have to say that I learnt a lot about social mobility, which was our group’s research topic. An interesting thing I experienced was to act like a jealous middle-aged woman in the video. This character was one of the main characters in our video.
最令人期待的Night Fiesta(夜晚狂歡)時間到了。充滿節奏感的流行音樂隨機播放,參會者可以直接走上舞台一展風姿。中途還有舞王爭霸環節,通過battle來決定勝方。這場夜晚的狂歡在最後變成了大型比舞現場,大部分參會者們都走上了舞台,跟著節奏,一起搖擺。這場狂歡盛宴在會議的口號聲“Who are we are we are we? 25th 25th SLC!(我們是誰?25屆SLC!)”中緩緩結束,給我們留下了難忘的回憶,這美好的瞬間也被定格在了一張大合照中。

After dinner, it was time for the most anticipated Night Fiesta. Rhythmical songs were played continuously, while more and more attendees came up to the stage to perform and show their charm. During this revelry, there was also a battle among the best dancers. The revelry turned into a big dancing floor, with most of the attendees coming to the stage and rocking to the beat. The Night Fiesta was ignited by the convention slogan “Who are we are we are we? 25th 25th SLC!” The happy moment was also kept in a group photo, and the curtain of the crazy night was finally lowered.
DAY 3
奔跑吧!德勝學子!
同學們第三天的主要任務是完成“Amazing Race”(極速前進),需要在新加坡的著名景點裏完成集體任務。乘坐地鐵,巴士等交通工具出行,便捷的交通線路幫助同學們快速到達目的地。在每個景點都有對應的特殊任務,包括換硬幣,尋找來自意大利的品牌,甚至還有與鳥合影等等。
在完成任務的過程中,同學們身體力行體驗新加坡的城市魅力,鍛煉了團隊合作能力以及英語表達能力。早上出發時大家都還精力充沛,經過一天的奔波勞碌後,大家回到學校時已經精疲力盡,真是意義非凡的一天!

Let’s run Desheng students! The main task of the day was to complete the “Amazing Race”, a group task in various famous scenic spots of Singapore. Subway, bus and other transportation means are very convenient and they helped students to reach the destinations quickly. Students had different tasks at different spots, from changing coins to finding brands from Italy, and even to take a selfie with a bird. This journey helped to practice teamwork and English expression. Students all started out in the morning vitalised, and returned to school exhaustedly after a day of running and hard work. What a day!

DAY 4
這是SLC的最後一天了,每個小組以各種形式展示各自的研究成果,並進行投票選出優秀作品。這是大會四天裏來自各國的參會者們思想碰撞的結合,是小組成員們協同合作的結果。
在大會的前兩天,每個小組都精心制作了各種各樣的海報以及展品,有的小組甚至還准備了吸引眼球的裝飾,例如星星燈、氣球、彩帶等。各個小組的攤位前負責講解的同學,用流利的口才講述他們的研究成果,說服更多人爲之投票。

This was the last day of SLC. The main task of the morning was a group research exhibition, and the participants should vote for the groups they feel good about.
In the first two days of the convention, each group had carefully made various posters and exhibits. Some groups even prepared eye-catching decorations, such as star lights, balloons, ribbons and so on. In front of each group’s booth, there were students explaining their research results with fluency and eloquence to persuade more people to vote for them. It was a combination of ideas from different countries during the four days of the convention.

閉幕式上,同學們收獲了官方認證的獎項,還欣賞了來自世界各國的藝術表演——來自印度充滿異域風情的舞蹈和歌唱,來自大洋洲激情澎湃的毛利戰舞,引發全場合唱揮舞燈光的天籁之音,以及點燃全場熱情的街舞表演……
德勝(國際)學生的才藝展示得到了全場最大的歡呼聲,觀衆席的燈光也爲他們揮舞著,感動中大家真切地感受到,與其說這是大會的閉幕式,不如說這是一場音樂的盛宴。

After lunch, all the delegates gathered under the Clock Tower of Hwa Chong, wearing SLC t-shirts, for a group photo.
After that, everyone returned to the auditorium where the welcoming ceremony was held, for the closing ceremony. Many awards were presented, followed by a group dance each YA had choreographed over the previous two days. There were also performances by students from different countries, including exotic dances and songs from India, passionate Maori war dances from Oceania, the heavenly sounds of light waving in the chorus, and the hip-hop that ignited the whole audience…
DSI students’ talent show received the biggest cheers among all the performances, and the flashlights from the audience waved for them. They felt moved that this was a music feast rather than the closing ceremony of the convention.

我收獲最大的是參與成果展示,這是一次檢驗參會代表綜合能力的舞台,有些學生代表在其中充分展示了他們的繪畫才能,我也十分敬佩負責策劃海報內容的同學。我也很喜歡所有的表演環節,尤其是跳舞的部分。我們用了三天的時間練習團體舞,才得以在最後一天完美地呈現在舞台上。在活動中,每個人都勇于貢獻自己的力量,整個過程中大家都充滿了熱情。

The exhibition was such an effective way to test delegates’ attitudes in different areas. Some delegates showed their talents on arts and I was impressed by the delegates who organized the content on posters well. I liked all the performances, especially the dancing. We practiced a dance for three days, and danced on the stage on the last day. Each group had its own style and brought audiences plentifully joy. Everyone contributed a lot and all of us were enthusiastic. Although we had very strong competitors who produced more attractive posters, we enjoyed a lot.
持續了四天的SLC,在全體與會者的擁抱和合唱中結束。這期間有不舍的淚水,有惜別的擁抱,還有在最後一刻相約再次見面,不忍離去。
當大家准備走出禮堂,耳畔突然響起的《小幸運》讓許多人先前努力忍住的淚水沖破最後一道防線,不住地流下。
“原來你是我最想留住的幸運”,沒錯,在四天的SLC中,遇見彼此是一種幸運,大家一同鍛煉合作能力,成爲好友,留下難以忘懷的回憶,又何嘗不是一種幸運呢?

The four-day SLC ended with hugs and a chorus from all students. There were tears, farewell hugs, and newly-built connections. They made wishes to meet each other again could not bear to leave. As everyone walking out of the auditorium, the sudden sound of the Chinese song “Little Fortune” made many people burst into tears that they had struggled to hold back. “You are the fortune I mostly want to keep”. Yes, in the four-day SLC, it was fortunate to meet each other. It was also fortunate for students to practice collaborative skills together, became good friends and created unforgettable memories.

晚上,德勝學校的學生們坐上了返程的航班。這一次SLC在期待中開始,在不舍中結束了。

In the evening, students from Desheng took a flight home. The 25th SLC started in anticipation and ended with unforgettable memories.

與孩子們在一起的這短短四天,我見證了他們的成長與改變。一開始的時候,他們因爲害羞以及語言問題不敢與組員交流。隨著大會進程的推進,他們學會了如何同來自不同國家的組員進行溝通和合作,不僅增強了領袖能力,更收獲了滿滿的友誼。就像今年的大會主題說的,“超越界限,引領變革”,我們的學生正是推進變革、改善社會的未來領袖。
