Why China have became so strong now?I would like to stress on the word 「 now」 it is not an overnight success, 「 now」 is not the right word. China had been and still continuously has been working hard, to improve and show the world, The Great Wall of China and other UNESCO protected heritage sites being number two in the World, were not just accidents.

Since 1949, China made great strides in upwards; sure there was issue in between, some questionable things did slow down the progress a bit. Otherwise, China was progressing steadily. BTW, as I (an ordinary person in the street), believe there is no turning back.：

I am not an economist, but I have concluded looking at their GDP charts, as a layman, it has been going up since 1962, imports and trade surplus all the indicators which financial experts and economists use, for a person of my caliber all looked very promising.

Therefore it is fair to say, yes, we are seeing this tremendous rise 「 now」 but they have been working on it for a long time.

I have been living in the western world soon it is 50 years, I never imagined to see the China of the present day, because of course most of the people have a somewhat different picture in mind.
I did not have negative image due to my very close alliance with Chinese for a long time, and from my childhood, I was in awe with history/longevity/ grandeur of Chinese culture/history/architecture/ their reverence for Lord Buddha.
我在西方世界生活了50年，從來沒有想過能看到今天的中國。因為大多數人的腦海里都有一種不同的畫面。由於從童年開始的很長一段時間以來都與中國人保持著密切的關係，所以我其並沒有什麼消極印象。我敬畏中國的歷史/悠長/中國文化的偉大/歷史/建築/對佛陀的崇敬。
I know most of them are not religious because they have found real God through hard work, even I was stunned stable as soon as because I was treated very nice, start from the check in at the Toronto airport to Beijing and clearance, stepping out into the lobby of the airport and then out. I was just numb, OMG, this is China, Wow. Well done my friends well done, the rest is history for me several trips were not enough to understand the length/breadth/ height of this country.
我知道中國的大多數人都不相信宗教,因為通過努力工作他們找到了真正的神祇。當我發現這裡的人這麼親切的時候我甚至都驚呆了,從多倫多機場到北京辦理登機手續和清關手續離開機場大廳，然後走出去……真的，我都麻木了。天啊，這是中國，哇。我的朋友們，做得好，做到好啊！餘下的幾段時間對我來說都不足以了解這個國家的長度/寬度/高度。

They have a tremendous amount of problems to solve, such still lot of poverty in some areas, pollution, and a host of other issues. I am very sure seeing the progress they will solve their mega problems as the time progresses.
It is hard to reach the top but it also extremely hard to stay there forever:

Sure it is very safe country, violent crime rate is very low, infrastructures are world class, but to keep going in right directions sometimes it is not easy all the time. I sincerely hope that they stay focused and continue the good work they are doing.

The success of China is a success of the human race:

In my humble view, Chinese success is a success of the human race; I believe the world will benefit from this mega success story. Rest of the world may take some examples of this mega success implement in their respective countries; I am sure the world will be a better place.

The analogy I will give when we see breathtaking masterpiece be it an art/literature/movie/ building/……anything for that matter, how much years of hard work went behind it to bring to that level only people who did it, know it. A breathtaking movie scene may last 2 minutes but it is possible that it months to do it.

On a side note:
In case if you have reverence for China and Chinese as I do, please read their history, and present day excavation of thousands of years old history proved China had fixed relation with the world, silk route one good example of this good will and trade route. Developing such innovative, peace loving, mutually beneficial it is in their genes. ( ask yourself: Buddhism entirely different religion still has reverence after thousands of years, just visit the Grand Buddha of Ling Shan, my jaw dropped, some of the reverence I saw there made me embarrassed because the devotees knew more about reincarnation and karma than I know.

Even if you have hate for China/ Chinese before you throw venom, please try to read a bit about them and the country, just may be, just may be, your hate will turn into something very compassionate feelings, and you will be released from this venom forever.

They are not going out of business as yet, their new silk route is very glorious, not with camels but with bullet trains, jumbo jets, and unbelievable big ships. This time cargo will not be loaded with silk/pearls only, and it will be different merchandise from A to Z to run modern lives around the globe, and payment will be in cash/gold/ COD…..and not with any other commodity, anymore. In current negotiations they will not give away HK, I am very sure about that, they have sent millions of their bright stars to get the same education in the west so that negotiating skills are better or are the at least at the same level this time.

Also: please take it from an ordinary person like me, the race which can survive on a bowl of rice, mixed with water as broth, for breakfast/lunch/dinner, is here to stay, better make friends with them and learn from them. They are not going out of business anytime soon; they survived Mongolians and Manchurian regimes, The Chinese took it on the chin, current injustices, the Chinese survived dynasties after dynasties, but they are still here. They have great 6000 years of entire civilization; I believe they be here for another long run.
還有:就請先從像我這樣的普通的人開始吧，一碗米飯上加上水就可以當做肉湯讓我生存，把這些當做早餐/午餐/晚餐。在這裡留下，更好地和他們交朋友，從他們那裡學習。放心吧，;在蒙古人和滿洲人的統治下生存下來的他們不會那麼輕易就崩潰的，中國人不會把當前的不公正放在心上，在經歷了一個又一個朝代後後，他們仍然在這裡。他們擁有6000年完整的文明;我相信，他們會在這裡存在更長時間。
Here is food for thought: Many civilizations come and go, rise and then crashed, Chinese culture is the only one which rose back after a dip in the curve. This question is food for thought: I have lot ideas about why/how but that is/was not the original question.

I have my own opinion.
First of all, I do not think?the model of government makes the decisive difference for what the government itself can do is limited and the model is only a part of the governmet.And according to my own limited knowledge,I find strong countries have many common points.And I think the most important one of those points is the governmet can organize the society and its people effectively.
我有自己的看法。首先，我不認為政府的模式會對政府本身所能做的事情產生決定性的影響，而這種模式只是政府的一部分。根據我有限的知識，我發現強大的國家有許多共同點，其中最重要的一點是政府是否可以有效地組織社會和它的人民。
And in fact well organized people can do much better than the non–organized people in almost all fields. In other word,whether the governmet can organize the primary society cells effectively is the key.

China’s long history, it has enjoyed periods of strength and also endured periods of relative weakness. China’s 「Century of Humiliation」 involved being?exploited by Western powers,?the Opium wars?and?unequal treaties,?the collapse of the Qing dynasty,?a brutal invasion by Japan, and a?civil war. China is strong because it’s a giant country with lots of people who work hard. Its recent historical weakness is more remarkable than its current strength.

Not very strong, I must say.
China solved all those problems that are easy to solve, leaving challenging problems still waiting to be solved. Such easy problems include attracting investments taking advantages of low labour costs, stopping ridiculous political movements, letting people to do their jobs without troubling them with political nonsense, building necessary infrastructures, etc. These are the easy part. The government just need to stop being silly and crazy like they were in the Cultural Revolution, learn some foreign ideas and adapt them to China.
我必須要說，中國目前還不是很強大。它解決了所有容易解決的問題，但富有挑戰性的問題仍然存在。簡單的問題包括吸引投資、利用勞動力成本低廉的優勢、停止荒謬的政治運動，讓人們在不帶政治廢話的情況下做自己的工作、建設必要的基礎設施等等，這些都是很容易的部分。政府只需要停止愚蠢和瘋狂，就像他們在WG中一樣，學習一些外國的想法並適應中國的情況。
With those easy jobs done, such a huge country wouldn』t be weak, considering that the huge population itself could deliver a strong capability once working normally. A big country does not have to be great to be stronger than small countries. It just need to be normal.
如果考慮到這些簡單的工作已經完成，那這樣一個龐大的國家將不會是脆弱的，因為正常情況下龐大的人口本身就可以提供強大的能力。一個大國不一定要比小國壯，只需要保持正常狀態（就可立於不敗之地）。
China’s solutions to remaining difficult jobs including fighting corruptions, increasing education qualities, developing creativeness in science and technologies, building a rule of laws, reducing pollutions and so on are going to be very decisive. They will decide whether China is going to be truly great or not.
中國解決包括打擊腐敗、提高教育質量、發展科學技術創新、建設法治、減少污染等艱巨任務的解決方案將是非常果斷的。他們將決定中國是否真的會變得偉大。
The biggest challenge hasn』t come yet. That is the demands for democracy, not necessarily for a western style democracy. But people cannot be kept as just subjects to elite leadership forever. When people get rich and richer, they think differently, they think their ideas should be valued and they will ask to implement those different ideas. There must be some sort of democracy that involves the common people in shaping the governance, which allows politicians with different ideas to debate and cooperate peacefully.
最大的挑戰還沒有到來。這是對民主的要求，不一定是西方式的民主。但人們不可能永遠被當作精英領導的主題。當人們變得富有和富有時，他們的想法是不同的，他們認為他們的想法應該被重視，他們會要求實施這些不同的想法。必須有某種民主制度，涉及到共同的人民來形成治理，這使得有不同想法的政治家能夠和平地進行辯論和合作。

China is not so strong now. There is no doubt that China is a developing contry. Chinese poverty standard is $335 every year.And there are nearly one hundred million people’s income is lower than the standard. So China isn』t strong and she needs time and develop to be better.

China is a rising superpower so I can consider it already as strong.
I believe the main reason for this is the present leaders are determined not to go back to the days where their country and its people were being humiliated by other countries.

China is not strong yet as it has not unify Taiwan a part of its sovereignty. However, China has been strong for five thousands years. It is abnormal that China has been weak since 1840. It will return to normal as a strong country. China become strong is a historical normal.

In the 21st century of country destroying nukes a new paradigm is in play. The best defense is a good economy. China knows it but us public is still stuck in an arrogant cold war mentality while the core economy to support such a huge military is not there.
